Critical Argument Essay Sample
Critical Argument Essay SampleThe process of developing a critical argument essay begins with the formation of an argumentative premise. By establishing this starting point, the writer will know what the objective of the argument is going to be. This will help him or her determine how they will advance that argument. An improper way to come up with this will show that the writer is more concerned with being right than to present a convincing argument. In order to produce an argument that is valid, the argument needs to use logical principles in its construction. Before starting the essay, the writer needs to become familiar with logic. He or she needs to become a student of the subject.Another key concept that will play a role in the structure of the argument will be the answer to the question, 'What do you know that your opponent doesn't?' The question itself is inherently flawed, since the writer can't know what is going on in the minds of others. Still, the writer should feel free to ask this question, as this makes it easier for the writer to develop the strength of the argument. Still, the writer should make sure the answer that he or she arrives at is an acceptable one.Once the premise has been established, the writer should move on to the construction of the argument. This will take the form of developing a persuasive argument, based on the premise that has been established. This may take the form of a specific argumentative statement, or it may take the form of a well-reasoned essay. If the writer has established a specific statement, the rest of the argument will be based on this statement. However, if the writer has established a more general statement, the rest of the argument will take on a different form. Thus, the essay should always be capable of standing on its own, as long as the writer keeps the logic of the argument intact. This is where the analysis comes into play, and where the effective essay will be based on the author's knowledge of the su bject matter. The basis for the entire argument will need to be clear. This will ensure that all points that are being made have been properly evaluated, and that there is no room for misinterpretation. The essay sample that is selected will be based on the specific topic and type of argument that are chosen. For example, if a writer is writing an essay on sports statistics, the writer will need to learn how to select a topic. The topic will be determined by what the writer knows about the subject. He or she will also need to establish what the purpose of the essay is, and what the writer intends to accomplish by the chosen topic. This can be done through the selection of a specific topic, or by researching the topic. Once this is done, the essay will stand on its own as long as the author keeps the basic principle of the argument intact.
